“When you read a book, the story definitely happens inside your head. When you listen, it seems to happen in a little cloud all around it, like a fuzzy knit cap pulled down over your eyes.” Robin Sloan, Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore
Hey, White Girl is now available as an audiobook!
I narrated the book last spring at Sound of Music Studio in Richmond, with the infamous Dan-O coaching and cheering me on.
It was interesting to revisit my own words. And it was fun to have Dan-O hear the story for the first time. Each session ended in this organic discussion of characters and Richmond history and Dan-O’s prediction of where the story might go.
I hope you know someone who may enjoy Hey, White Girl, audiobook style. If so, please forward this newsletter to them!
And if you happen to be a Amazon Prime member and have never tried Audible before, if you sign up by July 31st, you can get 3 months free -that’s at least 3 books!
Here are a few of my favorite audiobooks, if you want suggestions for those free books:
Circe (amazing narrator)
The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Frye (fun & light & very British)
The 1619 Project (Worth the length- and easier than reading)
